Busuyi, By the grace of God I'm a pastor in this mission, and up till now I play  and teach Instruments A long time ago after giving my life to Christ I made a covenant in my mind that any Church I  found self will not be paying instrumentalist, to the glory of God I have been transfer to four churches and this decision still hold with this premises I want to make this submissionThe Church has identified the importance of music as embrace by Daddy GOwith the introduction of all kinds of intruments as commanded by the Bible yet no concrete plan or strategy was map out to develop the aspect of the ministryThe Church this day are not discriminatory about who play the instrument /What type of rythm or lyrics is been play as long as it is melodious it doesnt matter. Most Instrumentalist see no reason why they should pass throug workers in training because no matter thier life stlye they will still be idol in the ChurchesOur pastor also does not believe in training people they always want ready made instrumentalist tthat deliver to pull the coveted crowdThe Church also thus not see the reason to appreciate the few ones who decided to use thier talent for God without receiving moneyPlaying Instrument is unlike other service in the church: it require special skill, Knowledge, Time, Trainig and Commitment. The church need wholistic program on how to takkle the problemIf the Church decide to stop paying the insrumentalist today it will affect many of our churchesPastor Busuyi Ogunfeyitimi  Province 13 Glory Model Zonal Music Corrdinator

I will like to start by asking if a musician is a profession ? if yes and a Church is a place where we christian come together to worship GOD not to serve any body. In Church we find different professions but skilled and unskilled person. The person that balanced the church account, those that organized the chairs properly or even clean the chairs. what am trying to say is that if a musician is demanding for money before he can sing or play the keyboard in the church the person that sweep the floor of the church to will be justify if he ask for money for sweeping the church.
A church is not an organisation that is profit making and the services any body render is to GOD not to man.

In some situation for better administration the church can employ workers and paid them, that is not wrong.such as Drivers, Gatemen, Admin staff,e.t.c this is what they do everyday not Sunday to Sunday programme. And not employing a musician that is paid to sing every sunday service that as far i know is wrong.

    Thanks

This reply pretty make some sence, but have you consider that people go to the University to study music. This people are professionals, or don't you think so?

I think A. Afolabi spoke well. I think this has to do with mind. Actually, this is profession of some people. If someone is rendering this service to the church on a full time, we expect him/her to be paid. But, in a situation where the musician has what he/she is doing for daily living and only play in mid-week services, Sundays and special programmes, then i think the "musician" has to think about it and ask himself/herself a question. If i did not know how to play keyboard or sing, wont i attend these services?

is it that there are no choirs in the church and the church now employs a musician to sing in place of choir? Well if he is employed to sing in the church yes he should be paid but if a the church has choir group i wonder what the need for the musician will be.

Well it all depend on individuals veiws, but what i can say is that God gives everyone us the different talent, the question is that what are you doing with it? are you selling it under the cover of profession? or using it to HIS glory, the problem most of churches facing now is either musician or keybodiest, its so pathetic that those people were desprate to drian the church pocket, with their charges, you would'nt believe it, so i think we need to be careful, because they are polluting the altar, they need to have right mind to worship GOD not because of money.  Shallom.
